Total Solar Eclipse 2012
During the rain adults doesn’t feel bored at all. Quite the opposite – more often they invent ways to make these precious drops of water falling from the sky use once again. Like with stuff designed to catch rain drops. Sounds weird? Maybe, but use your imagination and try to think about it.
We all know how much rainwater can be useful. We use it for watering lawns, gardens and backyard cultivation, less – to flush toilets. Not always, however, we are able to utilize it – mainly because of the cost of installing water storage tank. Therefore, you should think how to capture rainwater alone – for ecomaniacs enacting a green idea need not to be expensive or complicated after all. And in spare time you can always sit down and contemplate Total Solar Eclipse 2012.
Raindrops are nothing more than plastic bottles, which can be attached to the gutter. In this way, water flowing down drainage pipes are stored for longer. Turning the bottle upside down, we can allocate the collected water for watering the garden for example, or washing hands. And finally, what is most interesting in the project – the old bottles of cola made from PET plastic did not end up after a single use of the landfill on the huge pile of similar bottles, but are used as long as they do not leak.
Unfortunately, the project Raindrops also has its weak side. What is the downside? Certainly the lack of use of any filtration system, which for example would provide clean water to drink. And the second thing – the system stores bottles only a limited amount of rainwater. Most of the flowing water still remains unused. Anyway this can be thought as the first step to design sophisticated and well-performing rain water storing system.
